Bus Accidents Often More Dangeous
Today, we want to talk about an incident that involved several vehicles, including a SEPTA Bus and a paratransit van. Please know that while we understand that the bus driver was not at fault in this incident, we are using it to highlight that bus crashes are potentially more dangerous than other crashes.
In this incident, police say that a Route 14 bus was stopped and picking up passengers. A Honda CRV was in front of the bus when a paratransit van made a left turn too quickly and slammed into the bus and the Honda. The van flipped over in the crash.
“It was a hard impact, we heard it over our jackhammers,” said a construction worker who saw the crash.
One paratransit van passenger, seven people inside the SEPTA bus, and two Honda passengers were taken to the hospital. Thankfully, nobody had life-threatening injuries, but the situation could have been much worse.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, but the paratransit van driver stated that he was the one who was hit, not the other way around.
