The FDA has said that a salmonella outbreak related to a tahini spread seems to be over, but there are six brands they say should still be avoided just to be safe. The agency issued a public health alert earlier this month related to Soom Foods Chocolate Sweet Tahini Halva Spread after their testing indicated the presence of salmonella.

Further complicating the problem, and something that is of concern for many other recalls is that these items typically have long expiration dates. This means that people may have them in their pantries long after the recall has faded from memory.

At the Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C., we know that faulty products are a reality across the United States. If you or a loved one are Injured or become ill due to a product used or consumed, you may need a Injury lawyers.

How are you supposed to keep up with all of the recalls?

That is a good question. First, we always want to recommend that you check the government website that tracks all current recalls throughout the United States. What you will find is that the problems with faulty products go well beyond what you see on the news.

Every industry has defective products. That is just the nature of our system. Yes, there are regulations for each industry that are in place to minimize dangers, but sometimes problems fall through the cracks.

In the best-case scenario, the problem is discovered and a recall is issued before anyone is harmed. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

We have all head the stories of children getting harmed due to a defective car seat, exploding e-cigarette batteries, or faulty airbags. Faulty products have real consequences for consumers.

We know that problems usually arise in one of three ways:

  1. Faulty designs are not discovered in product testing phases and the product goes to the market.
  2. Manufacturing errors occur that alter the product from its original design and render it unsafe.
  3. Labeling issues lead to vital information being left off of the product, leaving consumers unaware of dangers, with incorrect instructions, or even incorrect medication dosages.

When any problem occurs in a product that causes person harm, the company or manufacturer may be held liable for any injuries or illnesses that occur.
