What Happened In This DUI Incident?

We have learned from police that a Woman Lost Control of Her Van while driving down Forsythia Drive South in nearby Levittown recently. Inside the vehicle were her three children.

Police say that the driver, Mackenzie Stanley, was allegedly impaired by alcohol and drove the vehicle at high speeds before losing control and striking a light pole and then another vehicle.

Stanley then continued speed down the road before driving into someone’s front yard and striking a parked vehicle. The man who was initially struck got out to check on her and found her three children, all under the age of five and all unrestrained, inside the vehicle with her.

“I picked the kid up and I froze because I couldn’t believe the kid wasn’t buckled in and the kid didn’t go flying,” said the man.

There were also children riding the bikes on the street at the time of the crash, but they were not impacted.

Police say that Stanley appeared to be highly intoxicated and found several liquor bottles inside the van.

What Can Happen in a DUI?

For the Latest Reporting Year in Pennsylvania, we know that there were 10,346 alcohol-related crashes. Out of those, 293 resulted in fatalities. In fact, a total of 26% of all traffic deaths were alcohol-related that year.

We also know that there were nearly 5,000 people injured due to these crashes. It is not uncommon for us to deal with the following injuries in the aftermath of DUI crashes:

  • Spinal Cord Injuries (with possible paralysis)
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Internal organ damage/internal bleeding
  • Broken or dislocated bones
  • Severe lacerations or Amputations

Victims of DUI crashes should not be on the line for the expenses.
