Neck Injury In Philadelphia

Neck Injuries occur most frequently as a result of Car Accidents. However, we know you can injure your neck in almost any trauma. Even without trauma, you can develop neck pain. For example, sleeping in an awkward position or underneath a ceiling fan can cause neck stiffness and potential injury.

This is because the neck moves in all directions. So that when a Car Crash occurs, your head moves in the direction of the impact.  “Whiplash” is a common name for this. However, over the years, we have found that the term “whiplash” carries with it the notion that the pain or injury is not that bad or temporary. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Neck injuries can cause some of the worst pain imaginable. It can linger and come and go for years, sometimes a lifetime. The neck is important because of its relation to the nerves in the arms, upper back, and head. Many times a neck injury can cause headache syndromes and even TMJ.

If you or a loved one were injured due to someone else’s negligence or intentional conduct, call The Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C. for a free consultation. Our Personal Injury attorney and staff can help you obtain the settlement you deserve and have a right to recover.

Neck injuries are treated in a variety of ways. In our experience, the following treatments are seen as routine:

  • Stretching
  • Traction
  • Chiropractic manipulation
  • Hot and cold compresses
  • Injections into the spinal spaces
  • Injections into the muscle
  • Surgical correction in the form of a laminectomy
  • Surgical corrections in the form of an anterior discectomy and fusion

Make sure you attend physical therapy since it is always a requirement before surgery – unless the trauma you sustained requires immediate surgery.

A common consequence of a whiplash injury is a herniated disc. Herniations occur when the disc material inside the disc pushes its way out of the disc and obstructs a nerve. This can be extremely serious if you have symptoms from the herniation. However, many people have natural disc problems, and do not affect them or cause pain.

At The Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C., our attorneys, and staff know how to handle cases involving serious neck injuries both from herniated disks and other causes. We use Neuroradiology to identify disc injuries and orthopedists and neurologists to help cure the client. If you or a loved one has a neck injury that you feel results from someone else’s wrongdoing, please, call our office.
